Chicago RnR Training week 3
Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you have all had a great weekend.
Lets recap week three of training, shall we?
Not impressive at all. I blame my leg this week. It has been so bothered that I didnt want to push it. The annoying part about my leg was it would hurt all day/all night, but once I started working out it feels fine. I decided I HAD to rest it as much as I could this week. If it needs to be rested, its better I do it early on so I can either keep pushing or decide its a full blown injury.
Monday: Rest day. Work is starting to get crazy and I am started to get really stressed out. Stress=exhaustion. I came home in a bad mood and with a bad headache. (Half of the stress right now about my job besides our big show up is our contract is up in the winter so there is a potential my office will be closed. Right now there are TONS of rumors going around and its semi-stressful because we wont really know what will happen until the very last minute. So I need to come up with a plan B)
Tuesday: 3 min run/2 min walk x 4 and 2 miles elliptical. My leg was bothered through this run. I didnt have the pain I would have with an injury (remember I had this injury on my other leg), I was just uncomfortable. Jumped on the elliptical to amp my cardio
Wednesday: 2.5 miles elliptical. Legs felt great
Thursday: Rest day. Terrible day at work.
Friday: Rest day. I was going to hit the trail for a 3 mile run but it was 100 degrees until almost dark. Excuses excuses
Saturday: 5 mile run. Seriously this was one of the best runs I have had in a long time. I met with my running group (which meets every other saturday) and we hit the park for running/speedwork. I picked my pace group and felt so freaking great. We ran a mile there, 4 x400s, 1 x 800 (I wanted to do 2, but my group was tired from the 99% humidity. Love you Georgia), ran a mile back. My legs: FELT AWESOME! Do you see how frustrating this is? I cant say this is an injury if I can run 5 miles pain free. I rolled out after and while my legs were a little stiff after, I still felt great
Sunday: rest day. Didnt want to push it too much with great legs. They were still a little sore and needed more rolling.
After running with this group this week, I think I am going to run with them more during the week. They are so motivating and it will help me get through this busy schedule.
How was your weekend?
